Mini Bulldog

The Mini Bulldog is almost an exact replica of the Standard Bulldog, except for the size. Miniature English Bulldogs stand 12-14 inches high at the shoulder, and weigh 25-40 lbs. They have the same physical appearance as Standard English Bulldogs. This variety was developed in the 1980s, in an effort to create a healthier Bulldog variety.

Mini Bulldogs are very popular among dog lovers all over the world, although they are not readily available due to limited population. These dogs are excellent home companions, and they are as intelligent and people-oriented as Standard Bulldogs. Miniature Bulldogs are not recognized by the American Kennel Club, although this may be only a matter of time. Some Mini Bulldog breeders have successfully improved their dogs’ genetic health. Miniature Bulldogs seem to be more long-lived than Standard English Bulldogs.

Like their standard-sized relatives, Mini Bulldogs look a little formidable due to their powerful and sturdy body built and severe and intense facial expression. However, these dogs are not supposed to be aggressive without motivation, and actually they make wonderful companions. They are good with children, and may even get along with non-canine pets, if socialized properly.

Mini Bulldogs are not intended for sedentary people, although they do not require much physical exercise. They thrive on interaction and should not be abandoned for a long time. Bored Bulldogs may get extremely rambunctious, as they tend to entertain themselves in ways not acceptable for us. Not infrequently, they take it out on furniture, clothes, shoes and other items, and it does not take them long to turn the whole place into a disaster area.

These dogs have smooth coats, which do not require any complicated grooming procedures. The coat can be brushed on a daily basis with a bristle brush. It is recommended to regularly wipe the dog’s muzzle with a soft and dry cloth in order to keep areas inside the wrinkles clean. Improper care may result in skin infections and shabby overall look. Mini Bulldogs are susceptible to heat strokes and cold. They are not intended for any rigorous outdoor activity, and hence they do okay without a yard. They are inactive indoors, but it is recommended to walk them on a daily basis.

Mini Bulldogs are prone to a few more health problems, such as hip dysplasia, breathing difficulties, eye problems, epilepsy and birth difficulties. In most cases, births necessitate Caesarian sections, because of the large size of the head. If you would like to have a Mini Bulldog in possession, please, make sure you are buying from a responsible breeder with health certificates, inoculation accounts and pedigree records on hand.
