Bulldogs Rescues Pictures - General Information

The general appearance of the English Bulldogs can be somewhat threatening, but in reality these are very gentle and kind dogs. The Bulldogs belong to the group of Mastiffs, and are non-sporting dogs. Bulldogs are very compact and small dogs with massive heads although they are very graceful and confident.

Height: About 12-16 inches (31-40 cm.). Usually shorter Bulldogs are more valued when participating in the show ring.

Weight: Dogs are about 53-55 pounds (24-25kg.) while the bitches are about 49-51 pounds (22-23kg.).

Average Lifespan: About 8 years.

Coat: The coat of the Bulldog is smooth, fine, and short and therefore is easy to groom. It should be combed and brushed with a firm bristle brush regularly. The coat requires bathing only when necessary. The face should be wiped with a damp cloth every day to clean inside the wrinkles. This breed is an average shedder.

Coat Color: The color should be pure of its kind of breed and brilliant with the most usual colors: red brindle, solid white, solid red, fawn or fallow, piebald. The preferable color is at least fifty percent red brindle with white patches of color. All white dogs are also acceptable and the usually do not have hearing problems. Predominantly colored Bulldogs are the next in the order of preference and on the contrary such shades as solid black, black-and-tan, black-and-liver are not desired.
